Laura Villalon Sanchez, the Waco, Texas mother accused of killing her two-year-old son, Frankie Gonzalez, on May 28 and later hiding his body in a dumpster before reporting him missing, has been indicted on charges of capital murder and injury to a child.

Waco police say that Laura confessed that Frankie died while in her sole care and custody before she threw away his little body like trash. On June 1, she falsely reported Frankie missing from Cameron Park, sparking an Amber Alert and a massive search for the toddler. The next morning, she confessed her involvement to investigators and led them to Frankie’s body in a dumpster on the property of a church.

Frankie and his two sisters (then aged 3 years old and approximately 4 months old) should not have been in Laura’s unsupervised care in the first place, because their father, Lorenzo Gonzalez, had signed a document with DCS agreeing that he would never leave the children alone with Laura.

His girlfriend, who he had recently gotten back together with, has a long history of drug and alcohol addiction, as well as a lengthy criminal record. Frankie was born in prison during one of her stints behind bars.

Lorenzo was arrested in June and charged with abandoning a child and injury to a child by omission. He is being held on those charges as well as an immigration detainer.
